Commissions

Please have a read through this page for an outline of my commissions process and pricing and then let's have a chat about your piece.

 

YOUR ENQUIRY

Please fill in the commissions enquiry form at the bottom of this page, providing as much detail as possible about your vision for the piece. The form will guide you through the sort of information I'm looking for.

 

RESEARCH 

Once I have your ideas, I'll spend some time researching the animal, particularly if its not one I have painted often. I'll look at the way it moves and its behaviours and use this to inform the next phases of the process.

 

If you have any personal photographs you would like me to work from, please send these to me at this stage. 

 

SKETCH 

I'll sketch a composition for the piece. This will vary depending on the size, orientation and number of animals to be featured but will be in my own style, which is often quite minimal and utilises the white space.

 

I'll share this sketch with you via email for any feedback and adjust anything you feel you'd like changed. There will be the opportunity for two rounds of feedback on the sketch.  

 

CHOOSING COLOURS 

Based on the colours you've suggested fit with your vision for the piece, the space the painting will be hung in and on ideas for a colour theme I think will work well, I'll share a colour palette with you. This will be a hand painted blend of colours on artist paper, shared via email, showing you how they'll mix and blend as watercolours. 

 

You'll also have the opportunity to decide if you'd like to add gold guild to the piece as this stage (although you can also choose to add this at the end if you wish) 

 

There will an opportunity for two rounds of feedback on colours before we settle on our chosen palette. 

 

*note that colours may vary slightly depending on the screen you are viewing them on and the camera they are taken on. 

 

PAINTING 

I will then start painting your piece, using my interpretation of the colours and the animal to create something that I think captures our collective vision and the spirit of the creature you've chosen. 

 

Once completed I will share images of the piece with you. Although as is the nature of watercolour, there will be no opportunity for any changes once the painting is complete. 

 

CAUSES 

As with all my work, I love to ensure that it sparks conversation about protecting our wild and provides financial support to organisations doing critical work on the ground. 10% of profits from your commission will be donated to a relevant cause. Whilst I'm happy to send you some ideas, I'd love for us to choose this organisation together. I will send you proof of the donation to our chosen organisation once payments are completed. 

 

TIMING 

Currently I require one month to complete your commission, however I'll always aim to complete the artwork for you as quickly as possible. If the commission is a gift with a deadline, please let me know via the initial enquiry form. 

 

PAYMENT 

To secure your commission, I will require a 50% deposit for the piece upfront and 50% upon completion. I'm happy to share an invoice for both of these with you. 

 

LOOKING AFTER YOUR ARTWORK 

I use archival quality paper and watercolour and gouache paint for all my work, meaning your piece should last a lifetime. However, in order to increase the longevity of your artwork it is  important that you keep it out of direct sunlight. If possible, please also choose an acid free mount when framing. 

 

MOUNTING AND FRAMING 

If you would like your artwork mounted, please let me know and I can request a cost from this from the independent framer I work with. 

 

DELIVERY

Postage within the UK is via special delivery and insured. Your artwork will be packaged flat and protected with acid free tissue paper. I will be able to get provide a quote for your shipping once you have selected a size and destination. 

 

I am more than happy to accept international orders, however international shipping will be quoted based on your location. Import duties, customs taxes and/or fees are the buyers responsibility.

For one animal 

A4: £325 

 

A3: £475 

 

A2 : £650

 

For additional animals please add the below prices to the costs above 

 

A4: £25  per animal 

 

A3: £30 per animal 

 

A2: £35 per animal 

 

REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS 

You reserve the right to cancel your commission prior to the research phase. Once the process has begun, cancellations will be not considered.

 

Should you change your mind before we engage in the process, a full refund will be provided. 

 

I reserve the right not to accept a commission if I feel the vision for your artwork sits outside of my style or creatures I am willing to paint. I will be honest and let you know at the enquiry stage if I don't feel compatible with your commission and will happily direct you to other artists I think you would work well with.
